1. Nine Lives: In search of the sacred in Modern India, William Dalrymple, Bloomsbury. A great travel book about the religious traditions and ways of communication with the divine that still exist in a variety of forms all over India. Because, as the author himself admits, his choice of subjects are the more marginalised (and hence not followed by the bulk of Indians), It is truly a tour of how far can one take the concept of sacred.

2. Tango Stories, Michael Lavocah, Milonga Press. A great book about the history and nuances of tango music, with interesting read-and-listen exercises to gain a good understanding of the various orchestras and the music and culture in general surrounding this wonderful dance form from Buenos Aires.
